These days every business owner or marketer wants a good,
effective website which will entice customers and boost their sales.
However, to most of them the thought of actually designing a website of
their own is very daunting as they imagine it to be horrendously
difficult and something that will take years to master, thus putting
them off the idea entirely. Therefore the majority of affiliate
marketers will simply use the sales page provided to them by the
affiliate company, or hire an overpaid designer, instead of trying
something different.
Designing a website or sales page doesn't have to be complicated at all. You don't need to be a techno-wizard or an artsy type to create an effective sales page or website. With a good all-in-one web development program you can have your first website published within a day! I personally use XSite Pro 2.0. It's extremely easy to use and you can learn the basics to creating and publishing your website within a few hours by using it!
Now when creating a sales page, as strange as this may sound, the simpler the better. Don't spend forever choosing color schemes, design themes, adding graphics or fancy logos which will just take up valuable space that could be used for good information within your sales copy. The best thing to do is choose a few background colors which are easy on the eye and not too garish. Pale blues or pale yellows work well in my experience.
Add a picture of the product to the page. Market research shows that eBooks that have a cover sell a lot better than the ones without a cover. People are enticed towards an attractive cover design so it's best to make sure it stands out on your page, hence why your sales page background should be fairly basic so it doesn't distract from the picture you've included.
People don't like to be "sold to" so instead of shouting about how fantastic the product is, simply write about what it is and the subject it relates to and most importantly how it will benefit the customer. Write a list, with bullet points, showing all the benefits the product has to offer.
Remember to break up the sales copy by alternating between two or three different fonts, a few different colors of text and switching between bold and regular, also underlining important points. That way the text will not become monotonous and boring. Also if you have, or can find, any testimonials from people who have previously bought the product, include a few of those on the sales page as well.
Last, but certainly not least, is your headline, which ironically should come first. The headline needs to mention some of the benefits of the product and how it can help the customer. A good example would be:
"You too can (insert achievement) in just (insert short amount of time) with (insert product name)!
