Using iTunes

Syncing Calendars

Step 1: Connect your iPhone to your Windows computer via the provided cable or the Apple Universal Dock. Apple iTunes should fire up automatically. In case it doesn't, double click on the iTunes icon on your desktop.

Step 2: Go to 'Devices', select your iPhone, and then click on the 'Info' tab.

Step 3: Go to 'Calendars', select 'Sync calendars from', and then select 'Outlook'.

Step 4: Click 'Selected Calendars' if you want to sync only the selected calendars. Now, select the calendars that you want to sync. If you want to sync all the calendars, then click on 'All calendars'.

Step 5: Click on 'Apply'.

Step 6: These changes will take effect only after you sync your iPhone with your iTunes.

Syncing Contacts

For synchronizing Outlook contacts with your iPhone, follow the above procedure till step 2. Now, Go to 'Contacts', select 'Sync contacts from', and then select 'Outlook'.

Click on 'All contacts' if you want to sync all your contacts, or click on 'Selected Groups' if you want to synchronize only the selected groups. Now, select the groups that you want to sync, and then click on 'Apply'. The changes will take effect with the next sync.

The downside of using iTunes sync:- This is a one-way sync. You can back up your contacts and calendars from your PC to your iPhone, but not vice-versa. Furthermore, the synchronization will take place only when you sync your iPhone with iTunes. It won't happen automatically. If you want a real-time sync (of small files) between your devices, we would advice you to follow the method mentioned below, using iCloud.

Using iCloud
For syncing contacts and calendars via iCloud, you first need to set it up on your iPhone, and then on your Windows computer.

Setting up iCloud on an iPhone

Step 1: Make sure that you are running the latest version of iOS on your iPhone.

Step 2: Open iCloud on your iPhone and follow the on-screen instructions to complete the setup. Enable automatic downloads. That's it. The iCloud is now up and running on your device.

Setting up iCloud on a Windows Computer

Step 1: Install iCloud Control Panel on your computer.

Step 2: Log-in to iCloud Control Panel using the Apple ID that you used to create your iCloud account. Select the iCloud services that you'd like to enable. Check the check box labeled as 'Mail, Contacts, Calendars, and Tasks'. Click on 'Apply'.

Step 3: To enable automatic downloads, open iTunes, and go to Edit > Preferences > Store. Now select Music, Books, and Apps. You're all set.
